Question:

Copying a DVD with copy protection?

I want to copy one of my home DVD that I bought ages ago, but the disc has become all worn out.

If I manage to remove copy protection on the DVD, will I get in trouble for copying to a blank DVD+R disc and is any information of what I have done stored on the DVD I copied from or to the new DVD?

I'm talking about Macrovision copy protection CP or CSS??

  1. It is not necessarily illegal to "back-up" you DVD collection.  However, distrubution is, of course, illegal.  I like this program myself, it breaks the protection just fine, as do most DVD ripping programs.

  2. Yes, if you remove the copy protection on the DVD, you can copy it ot another blank DVD+R disc.

If you don't know how to copy DVD to another blank DVD, I think this guide could help you

  3. I always use AVS DVD Copy and it works great.

    I download the software from:

Unbiased reviews and side-by-side comparisons of the DVD copy give you enough information to research the ins and outs of a particular product:

Also, you can google some other software:

  4. Try Slysoft AnyDVD to remove DVD protection
