Question:

Copyright business document?

I run a printing company and I am looking for some sort of contract that will remove liability from my company for printing anything copyrighted. I don't have the time/resources to check everything on my own. What is there, that can be signed by both parties, saying that the products being printing are not copyright protected?

  1. Please have a lawyer prepare the document you are seeking.

Any advice you get here may be wrong or may not apply in your state of operations.

While you are meeting with the lawyer have him/her also prepare an explanation of what it takes to copyright a document.  For example, many people don't know that the copyright symbol is no longer required on a copyrighted document and that all documents are automatically copyrighted with no further action being required by the creator.

There is also the concept of the registered copyright which refers to documents which have been registered at the Library of Congress.

    Hope this helps
