Copyright on materials not licensed in the USA ?

If I download something (for example, a show from Japan or Australia) that is not sold or licensed in the USA, can the copyright holder in those countries claim copyright infringement against me? If you know of a valid source to find out the information, please let me know.

  1. Probaby wont get in trouble. Copyrights dont extend to other countries very well, usually b/c the other countries refuse to hear cases about these types of things.


  2. In most cases, yes they can. While there’s no ‘international copyright’ most countries have treaties or bilateral agreements regarding copyright recognition.
