  1. Yes, plenty of writers use a pseudonym. The best thing to do is contact a solicitor who will be able to advise you of such matters.

A really cheap way of copy writing something is by sending the original transcript through the post to yourself- using recorded delivery - but you must NOT open it. That way you can prove you are the original author.

  2. You can Author a book under a Pseudonym - check with a lawyer how to do it.

  3. Best bet- check with an attorney.

  4. If you're in the UK, contact Own It.  They're an organisation that specialises in intellectual property rights for the creative industries.  They've lots of free information on copyright and can put you in touch with the relevant legal people.  Just sign up for free on their website and you've access to their resources.

We've been to some of their events and they're brilliant!

    Good luck with your book!

  5. I agree with the post the item to yourself by recorded delivery as a good cheap way to copyright something.

You can also own the copyright under your real name but publish it under another name, which may make the legal situation easier.  There is nothing to say that the copyright owner and the name on the book have to be the same, just that whoever publishes the book in whatever form has the agreement of the copyright owner.  So as it is you in both cases, under whatever name, that wouldn't be an issue.

    Good luck with your book!
