Coral Eclipse Stakes 2011 at Sandown - Seamie Heffernan to ride So You Think for second time
Jockey Seamie Heffernan, who has ridden, So You Think, only once before, is set to ride the five-year old bay colt at Sandown in the Coral Eclipse Stakes.
Ryan Moore, who rode the colt at the Ascot and the Curragh recently makes way for jockey, Seamie Heffernan, to guide So You Think at Sandown.
Ryan Moore guided the Aidan O’Brien trained So You Think at the Royal Ascot only to finish second behind Rewilding by 1/4th of a length. That was a surprising loss for Aidan O’Brien because So You Think was the hot favourite to win the Group 1
Prince of Wales’s Stakes.
Before the Royal Ascot Ryan Moore rode So You Think to victory in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh. On 2 July at the Sandown, Ryan Moore will be riding for So You Think’s rival, Sir Michael Stout’s, Workforce.
Seamie Heffernan has ridden the five-year old bay colt only once, which ended in a victory in the Group 3 High Chaparral European Breeders Fund Mooresbridge Stakes. The pair led the field of six horses to land the race by a massive 10 lengths.
Under Aidan O’Brien, So You Think has managed two wins out of three starts and a lone second place finish at the Ascot. Overall the colt has had an impressive run both in Europe, and, Australia, from where the colt belongs. A respectable 10 wins out of 15
starts.
Despite losing his last race, So You Think is still being favored by the bookmakers and as we approach the showdown, Workforce keeps getting slashed and now sits as a 2-to-1 favourite, While So You Think, is best priced at 5-to-6 from 10-to-11.
The big two will have to face a field of three others apart from them, which includes the likes of Snow Fairy, whose making her big return in a big match up against the two superior horses in Europe.
It will be an uphill battle for Snow Fairy to perform straight away after a long layoff especially against Workforce and So You Think.
According to sources the track has been provided with 6mm of water and another light circuit will be received later on. The track will be good to firm in places and since there is still time for the weekend showdown at Sandown the staff over there can keep
their options open to flatten the bends to balance things up.
There will be races run on the track on 1 July and that will determine what to do with the track. It’s obvious that the track will be assessed on the evening of 1 July.
