Coral On TV Puppy Trophy first rounds won by Isit, Aero Merlin, Hugo You Go
The first round of the Coral On TV Puppy Trophy was run on Monday at Romford. The top two hounds from each of three heats advanced to the £750 final which will be run on 26 November.
Coral On TV Puppy Trophy - Heat 1
Isit won the first heat with a time of 24.48 seconds, but it was Lollipops Ball that took the early lead. Ball got off to a tremendous start and quickly moved to the rails, but Isit pushed his way in front
on the second bend, winning a tight race by 1¾ lengths over Foxie Star.
Ball fell all the way to fourth place after losing the lead. He finished a head behind the third place finisher, Fabulous Clouds. Taking fifth place was the 4-5 race favorite, Tictac Tyson, who had chances
to take the lead but wasn’t quite able to do it. He finished 2½ lengths behind Isit.
Already Gone was pulled from the second trap and not replaced.
Coral On TV Puppy Trophy - Heat 2
Aero Merlin got off to a good start in this race, but it wasn’t as good a Longmint Gabby’s start. Still, Merlin pressed Gabby until he was finally able to pass her on the third bend. Merlin went on to
win the race with at time of 24.06, 2½ lengths ahead of Gabby.
The 4-6 race favorite, Daughter Of Peg, finished in third place and will not race in the final on Friday. Peg was slow from the traps and bumped on the first bend.
In fourth place was Cals Lonely, who finished just a shoulder behind Peg, and in fifth was Sporty Ted. Taking last place was Paulees Knight, the 16-1 longshot of the race.
Coral On TV Puppy Trophy - Heat 3
Hugo You Go won the final heat with a time of 23.85. He beat the 4-5 race favorite, Lenson Boss, by ¾ lengths after getting off to a great start. Boss made a valiant attempt to catch Hugo, but just fell
short. He’ll get another chance to race against Hugo on Friday.
Taking third place was Romeo Explosion, he had the slowest start of the group, but still managed to take third place. Behind him in fourth was Risky Rosaleen, and in fifth was Ballymac Oliver. Coming in
last was Deanridge Buzz.
