I bought the logitech X 530 sound system and the speaker cords are too short. Is there anything i can purchase to make them longer? Like extensions or something? Here is the system...http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/211&cl=my,en

  1. If the wires have a plain wire end, simply splice an extension piece of speaker wire on the end and make sure the two conductors are well insulated from each other (Black electricians tape is fine). If there is a special connector cut the wire near the connector and splice the extension wire in the middle.

If you are going to add a lot of extra wire (more than 10 ft / 3m) it would be better to replace most (or all) of the existing wire with a larger guage wire (This reduces signal loss).

Use speaker wire available at electronics stores or Home Depot. Spekaer wire has some form of coding (different colour wire, strip on one side, etc) to allow the conductors to be identified at distance. This allows you to connect the wires to the terminals and maintain speaker phasing by connecting the + or - wires to the same terminals.

For example, if the terminals are red and black and the wires are copper and silver coloured you would make sure the silver wire is connected to the red terminal (or the black, it doesn't matter as long as it is consistent) for each speaker. This ensure optimum bass (low frequency response). If you don't get phasing right you won't hurt anything, but bass will be a bit weak.
