Cordless AT&T E2718B phone set one of the handsets won't connect displays other handset on or out of range

Is there a way of resetting this handset or is it junk

Normally resetting is done by putting it into the base unit for about 30 seconds.  If that does not work you can "force" the issue by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes then do the above.  If it still does not work then it is junk.
