  1. DSL filters are used to filter Internet packet signal noise from getting into your phone.  If you are experiencing "distortion" on you audio, that may be due to other reasons unrelated to DSL line filter.

As a test, replace your cordless phone with a corded phone.  Do you still hear distortion?

If not, then it is a problem with the cordless phone.

Is the cordless phone 2.4GHz or 5.8 GHz?

Are you using a wireless router?

Wireless routers often cause interference on 2.4 GHz phones.

If that is the case, you may want to switch to 5.8 GHz or DECT6 cordless phones.

If your problem is Internet packet signal "noise" on your line, then try a new or different DSL filter.

But of course, be sure your filters are correctly installed in the first place...

Based on your update info, it sounds like your cordless phone has just plain poor voice quality - it's the phone.  Verify by testing with a corded phone.

The wireless router may still be causing some RFI interference to the cordless phone Unless, you explicitly "turned-off" the wireless feature, then it may not be transmitting.  But if you have not "explicitly disabled" the wireless transmitting feature, it may still be transmitting.  In which case make sure your wireless configuration is set for full encryption.  Should be using WPA or WPA2 with AES encryption (dont use WEP - it's not considered secure anymore).  If not encrypted, you are at risk of being hacked over your wireless link.... even if your PC isn't using the wireless portion.... someone else could...  Be sure to disable the wireless or at least use full encryption to the max.
