I bought a new cordless house phone today because i thought my other broke but hasnt because this one isnt connecting aswell.

When someone rings me , I answer but i cant hear the person and they cant hear me also. Also when i try to ring out nothing happens, the number i am trying to ring doesnt even make a ring tone!

I have double checked that everything is in the right place and that the batteries are charged....

What do u think the problem is...?

  1. it's possible your phone isn't synced with the base, like if it has an extra charging-only base and you've never hung it up on the actual base station, it doesn't have the communication code.

generally hanging these things up on the base and then picking them up is enough to solve it.

if it's a 2.4ghz phone, you also have the possibility of wireless router interference.

if none of the above, the unit is likely defective or you have some bad wiring.

  2. This is possibly a line fault, as stated before plug in a cheap corded phone into your main socket and test for dial tone, if fault persists remove the front plate of your main socket and plug the phone into the rear test socket, this disconnects all internal wiring and is straight onto the network. If fault persists call your service provider for an engineer, if your line is ok but the problem re occurs when your socket is back together, you have an internal fault and it is for YOU to sort out. If you call out an engineer you will be charged. However if all is ok with your line with a corded phone, you need to change your phone, replace with either a BT or Panasonic as the rest are all poor to abismal (especially Binatone). For a cheap corded phone go to Tescos as they do them for about 3 quid.

  3. sounds like a broken wire in the box on the wall that you plug base unit into.Call BT thats why you pay your line rental

  4. Have you checked the line with the line provider? I actually in the same situation. Although some phones work on some connections. Its best to try all the avenues before you think of something else.

  5. I suggest you check your line by plugging in a normal phone, because it sounds like a wring fault.

If your normal phone doesn't work that will confirm a wiring fault.
