  1. Bring your picture up in PSP make a duplicate (Shift+D) close the original so you wont edit it.

Now lets just say that you have a picture of a person with a blue hat on and you want to keep the blue hat in colour and the rest of the picture black and white.

Click on Layers - Promote Background Layer.

Select your Freehand Selection Tool (looks like a lasso) Selection type = Point to Point, Mode = Replace, Feather and smoothing = 0.

Zoom right in close to get a good look at this blue hat or whatever it is. To do that you can just use the roller on your mouse or click View - Zoom - Zoom in and then from there you can just hit the + button on your keyboard to zoom in more.

Now start tracing around this blue hat but don't click too fast or it will close off and you will have to start the tracing again.

When you have reached the starting point of your tracing just right click it to close off. If you have multiple things you want left in colour you just hold down the Shift key while you are selecting another part. Now it looks like you have little marching ants around the blue hat.

    Click on Selections - Invert

Then Adjust - Hue and Saturation - Colourize

and when the pop boxs appears just move both the sliders to 0.

Then you hit Selections - Select None.

Then you save it as a jpeg and your done.

    Hope this helps =)
