Corey Hart’s seven RBIs helps Milwaukee Brewers defeat Washington Nationals, 11-3 – MLB Update
Milwaukee Brewers’ right-fielder, Corey Hart did an outstanding job with the bat as he went 3-for-4 and hit seven RBIs in the Brewers’ 11-3 win against the Washington Nationals at Miller Park, Milwaukee, on May 23.
Hart was satisfied with the way he batted throughout the game. He said, "Hopefully this is a start. Hopefully I can start swinging the bat better and keep it going. It's been kind of rough, but it's been an experience and I've just been going out there trying
to figure it out daily.”
The Brewers accelerated from the first inning as they posted three runs. Hart initiated his runs by hitting a one-run homer (441 feet) to centre-field. Prince Fielder also homered (421 feet) to centre-field and Rickie Weeks scored a single run. The Brewers
got a 3-0 lead at the end of first inning.
The Nationals opened their scoring account in the second inning and reduced the lead to 3-1 when Michael Morse struck a home run (446 feet) towards the right-centre field. The third and fourth inning went score-less for both teams. The Brewers started their
fifth inning with a blast and scored three runs again.
Hart struck his second homer (409 feet) of the game to centre-field, Weeks singled off the deep left-centre and Ryan Braun added one run on the drive of Jonathan Lucroy off the left-field to complete a three-run campaign. The score-card was 6-1 after the
fifth inning. No score was contributed from any batter in the sixth and seventh inning.
The eighth inning went in favour of the Brewers as they stepped on the gas and added five runs. Yuniesky Betancourt, Weeks, Lucroy and Brandon Boggs each added single run for his team while Hart hit his third homer (409 feet) to left-field. Betancourt said
of his game, “I was actually proud of myself. When I grounded out I took some pitches. It's kind of hard not to think about it.”
The Brewers went ahead 11-1 after the eighth inning. However, in the last inning, the Nationals scored two runs to cut their deficit to 11-3 when Brian Bixler posted a run on the drive of Jerry Hairston Jr. He added a second run on the grounder of Roger
Bernadina.
