what does it mean if you are corgi registered and what does it cover?

Confederation of Registered Gas Installers, as I remember.  And they are the only ones who have permission to touch the mains gas supply.  If the plumber of engineer who comes to your house hasn't gone a CORGI stamp, then any work he does might make your house insurance invalid.  Any consequences, an explosion, might be refused by the insurance company since you have done an illegal act, i.e. allowed someone who isn't the gas board or CORGI to touch the gas supply.

So always use them.
