Corleones Hawk in form to steer the Greyhound Sporting League – Leg 3 his way at Nottingham
The third leg of the Greyhound Sporting League will be contested by Tynwald Anthem, Clontemple Snow, Corleones Hawk, Splendid Ella, Luther and Theres My Bailey. The most deserving for the £102 prize money is, Corleones Hawk, as he has all that it will take to race over 500 metres flat at Nottingham on Friday, 29th June.
Corleones Hawk, Westmead Hawk’s two-year-old black son out of b***h, Corleones Flyer, is one of the most lightly raced hounds on the line-up, and has five career outings on the profile.
His first experience was a drilling session over 305 metres on 30th April at Nottingham which he closed on in 18.83 seconds.
His career debut resulted in a second position in a 305 metres race at Nottingham on 15th May. The race was won by Corleones Tessio, who clocked the track distance in 18.31 seconds, and kept the runner up at bay by five and a half lengths.
Ten days down the line, the two-year-old won a 500 metres race at Nottingham by making it to the other end of the wire in 31.40 seconds while enjoying the lead of two lengths.
Finishing the closest to the winner was, Hasty Millessa.
This is the only winning post on the profile of the P. Timmins trained however, the next three races in which he took part did not witness the ranking bar going down the third position.
His race on 2nd June had him qualifying as the runner up behind the winner, Patsys Flyer, who completed the 500 metres trip in 31.72 seconds at Nottingham. Corleones Hawk had to come out winless by the loss of 1 ¾ lengths.
His next racing chance surfaced on 8th June in the form of the Grade A6 Greyhound Sporting League – Leg 5 in which he finished third after racing for 31.88 seconds.
He then parked third in a Grade A6 500 metres flat race on 15th June at Nottingham after taking 32.39 seconds.
Thinking better of it, the trainer, P. Timmins, drilled the two-year-old over 305 metres on 23rd June at Nottingham which he rushed over in 18.56 seconds.
He enjoys the edge of a recent training session that has enhanced his chances for success today.
