Question:

Corn Snake regurgitating?!?

I have a 3 year old creamsicle corn snake and she eats large mice.

She regurgitated her food the other day and I'm really worried about her.

I have a thermostat so the temperature in her tank is right, she has lots of places to hide, I hadn't touched her since I'd fed her (it happened about 2 days after I fed her)

She's never done it before, if any one can give me any information on what to do or anything it'd help :) Thanks.

  1. I would think that the prey might've been too big. I hope she is okay.

  2. I would recommend that you don't try to feed her again.  Reguritating is hard on a snake.  Wait till her next normal feeding period, to give her stomach time to recover/heal.

If the prey was bad/rotten or not of the proper temperature, this could be a cause (unless you are feeding live, which I always think is a very bad idea.  One picture is worth a thousand words, as the adage goes: http://www.redtailboa.net/forums/feeding... <http://www.redtailboa.net/forums/feeding... ).

Are you using a digital probe thermometer or an Infrared temperature gun to set her temperatures?  Strip themometers or peel and stick round meters can be inaccurate up to 20 degrees, and they read ambient air temperature, not the floor temp. where the reptile actually resides.

If she seems fine, beyond this occurance, and there's no change in her stool or behavior, it could be a fluke.

But, reptiles are slow to show signs of illness and by the time they are displaying symptoms, it's usually pretty progressed.  She could be ill, and you may want to have your reptile vet check her.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

***ADD, yes I would recommend just skipping this feed, and resuming on the next scheduled feed time, to permit her tummy time to recover.  It's a long way from her stomach to her mouth, and purging food is hard on a snake.

    Good luck.
