  1. Your comment has two serious fault assumptions about corn and bio-fuel.

    1. corn used in bio-fuel production is not the same type corn grown for human consumption.

    2. the corn used in bio-fuel production is still a good livestock feed and is processed and then used in livestock feeds.

  2. The science was in. It was a great idea. (sarcastic)

Hold on, I need to donate money to GLOBAL WARMING.

  3. Industries like Cargill are making money beoynd imagination with this stupid wasteful idea!

  4. Poorly thought out and executed,  what else could be expected from the US government.

  5. Sawgrass might be a better alternative, but for the moment the ethynol industry is more corrupt than the oil industry.

What's most bothersome is the amount of forest being cut down to grow corn.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to try and power the world by stealing food resources was an IDIOT.

Biofuels from corn and food crops not only raise the cost of food world wide, but cause more polution and destruction of the planet in doing so.

  6. Look at the information of the ethanol production beofre making a decision.  Consider the amount of energy a gallon of ethonol produces vs the value of the corn crop in general for the farmers.

  7. 7 gallons of gas to make 8 gallons of ethanol, plus thousands of gallons of water. Don't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it is the biggest mistake. Just wait until next winter, if you don't have a huge bank account, you all will be suffering. God help us all.

  8. It only was a bad idea if you bought into it to reduce fuel prices, grean house gas emissions or as a path the energy indenpendence.  Of course, that was never the motive of the politicians who promoted it.  Their goal was always to raise the price of corn in an effort to buy agri-business votes.

  9. CBS News correspondent Bernie Goldberg says the liberal mainstream media is largely ignoring the voices of scientists and academics who are skeptical of the notion that global warming is caused by human activity.

  10. well corn as fuel would help the world but corn is used for many foods we eat.  its a bad idea your right

  11. Now everything related to corn is going through the roof.  I think this was all a predrawn plan from the power that be.

  12. Yes.  If we planted the entire United States in corn, we might be able to produce only 25% of the fuel we are currently using.

  13. corn IS a great idea for fuel because it is cleaner burning and renewable fuel that we can produce here in the u.s. it is something we can produce and use here instead of continuing to send billions of dollars per year to countries who support terrorists. ethanol cannot end our energy problems by itself but can only supply a percentage of our needs. the dollars generated locally and across the country would be multiplied many times over through production, refining and distibution of our own energy grown year after year. ethanol has already been responsible for reducing the price of gasoline by 50 cents per gallon, because ethanol is currently cheaper than unleaded gas and is being blended by oil companies to keep the price of gas lower with oil prices hovering near 120 dollars per barrel

  14. Yes and no. There's plenty of cropland available for growing corn for all purposes. Heck, some of it is literally rotting by the roadside! So that argument is nonsense. Food problems are due to speculation and corporate greed.

But corn alcohol should be a stopgap while we figure out how to make it efficiently from cellulose.

  15. actually -no- bad time to go to ethanol , yes ,as most know ethanol was used for fuel and ( very ) easily produced (and drank mostly ) at  or before gasoline was to be mass produced ! to fuel our vee hicles (hee ! ) anyway either greed or lack of corn, potato, and other stuff  -production ? who knows we coulda had all of the mid-west still spurting black stuff ! yet every time you dug a hole oil came out so the corn would not grow in the stuff i guess if we deplete it then we can grow the good stuff on that soil ?? with-me?

so now we have no oil ( heavy ) production ,therefore with all the related issues ,we are now falling BACK  and going after man (helped )made resources, and we need only wait from seed to tank ( about 9-12 mo's.) just like a baby ,again !

  16. Corn is very bad for feeding animals.  We have to inject cattle with massive amounts of antibiotics to prevent them from getting sick on corn.  Why do you think the real health industry is for organic (read "free-range" or "grass fed") foods.

If the sugar industry in the US would allow the food companies to import foreign sugar instead of using corn syrup, and cattle were raised on their natural foodstuff (grass) there would be enough corn to feed the population and use for ethanol.
