Corn in popcorn and corn in hamster food?

why is it in popcorn, the kernels are small and round, while in hamster food, it is square and slightly bigger?

  1. My guess would be the corn in the hamster food had been rolled and crushed. I have never had a hamster but I know that is what is done to the grain I gave to my horses and hogs.
