  1. YES! You need a heat source which will provide a hot spot of about 85 degrees. If you don't, your snake will not be able to digest its food and it will rot inside of it, killing it, if it doesn't regurgitate it first. Snakes are cold blooded and need heat. The people who are saying you don't need any heat probably have never owned a snake.

  2. i guess you could probably get away with it, although it is risky. snakes need a place that is warm and a place that is cooler because in the wild if it got to hot they would go find some shade so that may lead to your snakes death :(.

  3. yes you need a heat source...78 will be okay for a few days but you need to get something pretty quickly.  he needs a the hot side to be between 80- 85.  he also needs to have a hot and cooler side so that he isn't always the same temp.

by the way 88 is too hot for the snake.

  4. no as long as your room stays about 78 or warmer it will be fine you could use one if you want but its not necessary

  5. Corn snakes aren't boas or pythons so they can tolerate cooler temperatures.

I would keep the warm side around 88F it won't be any serious if it goes a degree or 2 over or under that.

I would keep the cool side around 74-78F.

Yes you will need a heat source generally for the warm side because snakes need heat to digest their food.

Research the best heat source, post on a specifically designed reptile forum to help you out and then you should be able to make a decision on the heat source you want.

  6. You should probably still get one as one end of the snake's tank needs to be about 88 degrees :)
