  1. I LOVE corned beef!  It's a different flavor than any other meat out there, but it's so good... The first recipe is approximately what I do, I just simplify it.  All you need are:

    Corned beef

    Carrots

    Potatoes

    Cabbage

    Put the corned beef in a large pot of water (or a crockpot with water), bring to a boil, and let simmer for 3-4 hours.  Peel potatoes and carrots, add to the pot, and let boil until almost tender.  (If your pot isn't large enough, you can remove the beef at this point.  Just make sure to reheat before eating).  Coarsely chop the cabbage and add to the pot.  Cook about 5 minutes, or until the cabbage is done to taste (some like it mushy, I prefer a little crunch still).  Drain the water and serve!

    The most important thing is that you cook the potatoes and veggies in the same water that had the corned beef.  It gives them exactly the right briny flavor.

  2. Corned Beef and Cabbage

        * 1 medium onion, cut into wedges

        * 4 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered

        * 1 pound baby carrots

        * 3 cups water

        * 3 garlic cloves, minced

        * 1 bay leaf

        * 2 tablespoons sugar

        * 2 tablespoons cider vinegar

        * 1/2 teaspoon pepper

        * 1 (3 pound) corned beef brisket with spice packet, cut in half

        * 1 small head cabbage, cut into wedges

    DIRECTIONS

       1. Place the onion, potatoes and carrots in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Combine water, garlic, bay leaf, sugar, vinegar, pepper and contents of spice packet; pour over vegetables. Top with brisket and cabbage. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours or until meat and vegetables are tender. Remove bay leaf before serving.

  3. Make reuben sandwiches

    after you have cooked the corn beef  slice it up on the thin side then butter  rye bread and put a slice of swiss cheese on it an a little thousand island dressing and some sauerkraut  then put it in a frying pan and cook it just like a grilled cheese sandwich.

  4. the one above sounds good but i just fry it in a pan with inons and have it with rice
