Cornerback, Leigh Torrence, reunites with Washington Redskins – NFL News
Cornerback, Leigh Torrence, who became a free agent after the last National Football League (NFL) season has joined Washington Redskins, the team with which he has already played three seasons.
While announcing the reunion, the Redskins did not disclose the tenure and value of the new contract. So, it cannot be determined for how long the player is going to stay at Washington.
Torrence started his professional NFL career in 2005 with Atlanta Falcons. He could only play 10 games in his rookie year and recorded a total of five tackles without starting any game.
After playing for Falcons for only one year, Torrence joined the Redskins in 2006.
In his first year with the Redskins, Torrence did not play any game. However, he played all the 16 games in the next regular season and started one. He registered a total of 43 tackles in that season.
In his third year with the Redskins, he did not get a start and while playing nine games, he could only register 16 tackles. In the same year, he parted ways with the Redskins and joined the New Orleans Saints for whom he played seven games and got nine
tackles.
In 2009, he recorded 10 tackles in five games and a shoulder injury forced him out of the complete season.
Torrence displayed a better performance in the 2010-11 season in which he played 13 games and recorded 27 tackles.
In the last NFL season, he once again played 13 games and registered 20 tackles.
Following his release by Saints, he explored different options with in the open market and eventually agreed to terms with Redskins.
Redskins are seriously revamping their line-up and planning on bringing major changes at many key positions.
They have already traded the second overall pick with the St. Louis Rams for the upcoming NFL drafts and are expected to sign either Stanford’s quarterback, Andrew Luck, or Baylor’s quarterback, Robert Griffin III. Both are projected as the top draft prospects
of this season.
Recently, the team also announced re-signing of defensive lineman, Kedric Golston, who was forced out of the last season owing to an injury.
He joined the Redskins in 2006 after starting his professional NFL career with the team and has been playing for Redskins since then.
