Cornet/ Parmentier rush to the final round ousting Begu/ Senoglu – Texas Open 2011
The last doubles semi final of the Texas Open 2011 took place on Friday the 26th of August 2011. The two teams that contested each other on hard courts of Hilton DFW Lakes in Grapevine, Texas were Alize Cornet with Pauline
Parmentier and Irina-Camelia Begu besides Ipek Senoglu. In just 1 hour and 13 minutes the French pair came out victorious with a 6-3, 6-3.
The first set of the match saw Cornet/ Parmentier strike four double faults hitting the net and were also unable to target most of their fist serves but they tried really hard and were capable of winning 73% of their first serves.
Along with, an above average win in the second serve, they were able to accomplish a 63% win in the total service points against Begu/ Senoglu, who were only capable of attaining 9 out of 24 points, making it a pitiable win of
38% in the total return points.
Turkish Senoglu beside Romaine Begu had a poor offence and were unable to hit big, thus, they were only able to accomplish 48% of their total service points, while, the French scissors had snapped at every return and bagged an
above average 52% of the total return points in the opening set.
By accomplishing a 56% win and by capitalizing on a 75% win of total break points won the French duo was able to bag the set in just 37 minutes.
In the second set the Turkish/ Romaine duo had taken a notch higher in their performance and had relatively improved their service by achieving 52% of their total service points in opposition to Cornet and Parmentier, who had attained
10 out of 21 points, making it a 48% win of the their total return points.
With a failing defence the Turkish and Romaine pair were unable to save the two break points on their serve and were only able to achieve 14 out of 33 points, making it a 42% of their total return points against Cornet/ Parmentier,
who had scored 19 out of 33 points, making it a 58% win of their total service points.
By breaking their adversaries twice and achieving 5 more points in the total set score, they bagged the set to secure a berth in the final.
The un-seeded team of the French pair will face another un-seeded team of Italian Alberta Brianti and the Romaine Sorana Cirstea.
