  1. Southall is also a region of West London.

Any person with a place name origin for an English surname should always be made aware of this: any "foundling" child, that is any child whose parents could not be identified, would be given the name of the local parish that took care of their upbringing.

That means, if somebody had a child and left it on a church doorstep in Southall, and it was put into the care of the Parish Council, the child might well be named Southall!

  2. Corns Name Meaning and History

English: variant of Cornish, from Old French corneis.

    Americanized form of Dutch Korns.

    Southall Name Meaning and History

English (chiefly West Midlands): habitational name from any of the various places so called, from Old English suð ‘south’ + halh ‘nook’, ‘recess’. The distribution of the surname in Britain makes a Midlands origin likely: places called Southall in Doverdale, Worcestershire, and Billingsley, Shropshire, are possible sources.

    hope this helps.
