I cannot decide between becoming a corpsman or a navy nuke. I like helping people, but on the other hand quick promotions and big money when I'm out don't hurt either.

Nuke school is very long, and extremely hard. I passed the preliminary test to get into nuke school and switched my contract from corpsman to nuke. Now Im having second thoughts and want to hear from corpsman and nukes alike on the pros and cons of their job to make sure I made the correct decision

  1. You may already be stuck.

I was in nuc school, because I passed the test.  It ain't easy. You may hate it.  It is more years.  And all that money don't matter if you aren;'t happy.

Do NOT let the recuiter push you where you don't want to go.  Be what YOU want.

  2. HM is FULL meaning advancement sucks.  No bonuses for HM either.

OTOH, Nuke is indeed a tough tough career choice, but the clearance and the experience will mean you are guaranteed a good job outside .

with HM.. not so much as none of your training is carried over and you will still need to certify in whatever state you want to work in..and that could mean taklng all the classes over again.
