I'm building a C&C cage for my 2 cavies

I have bought the supplies to make a 2gX3g cage with a 2gX1g second level for a hayloft.

The dimensions are roughly 42" X 28"

Would this be considered appropriate size for my 2 sows?

  2. Ideally, you should have a 2x4 C&C cage for two guinea pigs, but I think that this should be fine. Depending on how many accessories you will house in this cage, you might or might not have enough space. Remember, they should have enough space to run around, even with all of the accessories.

If possible, try and buy a few more grids and extend it out to a 2x4 cage, instead of a 2x3. Also, a second level can take away from the floor space on the first level, so that could also be a problem. Maybe if you posted a picture, I would be able to see whether it's big enough for your two guinea pigs.

If you have any additional questions, please e-mail me.

  3. I just built a 2x4 with a 2x1 hayloft level, and they are frightened of the ramp. I would recommend you drop the second level idea and make the cage 2x4 or even 3x4 or 2x5 if you can! They only really like the flat surface, anyway.
