Corrie van Zyl warns India of a tough task awaiting them in South Africa
The battle of wits continues between the Indian and South African cricket teams ahead of the first Test of the tour as the South African coach Corrie van Zyl on Monday said ‘Record books don’t lie’ reminding the Men in Blue of their unimpressive
performances in their previous tours of South Africa.
Currently http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 is enjoying the No. 1 spot on the ICC Test rankings table with 129 rating points while the Proteas are trailing them by a mere 13 points but van Zyl suggested the tourists to go through the record books to know how a tough
task awaits them in South Africa.
"We don't pay much attention to what the Indian goals are in the series, but rather concentrate on what is ahead of us," the South African coach was quoted as saying by a leading sports website. "They are an experienced team with much depth
regarding their batting and bowling, but the record books never lie," he added. Pier
But the South African based Indian coach Gary Kirsten briskly came forward to prevent his side from demoralization due to van Zyl’s comments saying that the Men in Blue have become a totally different and improved side over the past few
years.
"If you look at our performances and results over the past two years you can understand why we are the number one team," said Kirsten.
However, the record books do not paint an impressive picture of the tourists rather favours van Zyl as India could not win a series in their past four tours of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and prevailed in only one Test after donning white twelve times
in South Africa. The only Test success came in 2006 in Johannesburg.
India in the last two months has won the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, despite backing them, did opine that his side cannot call itself World’s best Test side without winning a Test series in
the Rainbow nation.
India is set to play three Tests, five one-days and a T20 game in their one-and-a-half moth long tour of South Africa. The first Test of the tour starts on December 16 in Centurion.
