Cory Chitwood grabs Men’s 200m backstroke gold – Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona
Cory M Chitwood of Arizona-AZ grabbed gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 23-year-old Chitwood demonstrated his exhausting efforts in the four-lap backstroke event as he shattered hopes of his challengers by claiming gold medal of the event.
With his invincible efforts, he sprinted his way towards the finishing end by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 05.66 seconds.
The gold medallist remained significantly ahead of Canada’s Tobias Oriwol, who reached the victory stand for silver medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 10.40 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Ellis Miller of Arizona-AZ, who was almost two body lengths slower from his former finisher and secured the podium for bronze medal by posting a time of 2 minutes and 12.89 seconds.
Similarly, fourth best spot of the race was secured by Bryan W O’Connor of Ford Aquatics, who remained 1.07 seconds apart and tapped the wall in a time of 2 minute and 13.96 seconds.
His scintillating effort remained prominently faster from Miller’s teammate, Matt T Hurko, who emerged on the finishing blockade as fifth best finisher with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.01 seconds.
Subsequently, Ryan M Glander of UASU-AZ secured sixth best spot of the event as he remained 4.49 seconds slower from Hurko and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 19.50 seconds.
His effort remained 1.14 seconds faster from his teammate, JH H Vivadelli, who hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.64 seconds for seventh position.
Finally, Pete K Stacy of Arizona-AC remained 1.05 seconds away from his preceding finisher and snared the last position of the event as he ended eighth with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.69 seconds.
Furthermore, the spectators appreciated ruthless efforts of all participants in the 200m discipline while the position holders were awarded medals and accolades for their undisputed sprints at the prize ceremony of the championship.
In addition, the session ended after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s category.
