Question:

Corydora with Very Odd Behavior

So I rescued 14 corydoras from WalMart and 3 of them had fin rot. So they were isolated in the infirmary tank. One was really bad, he was missing half his tail. He keeps doing a lot of weird things. When he was in the infirmary tank he would wedge himself between the filter and the wall. He would also just let himself float at the top of the tank, really unusual for a bottom fish.

So I asked what I should after the Maracyn treatment and I was told to move them back and let the stress-free environment heal them. I moved them all back with the others. Well now in the big tank he will float to the top and won't school with the other corydoras. He will also let himself get stuck to the filter and then will get off it! The other two that were in treatment are fine and schooling. Should I isolate him again? Or did the bacteria go to his brain?

  1. Well if his fin rot is cured and there is nothing wrong with him physically there is really nothing you can do for him except monitor him very closely. I hope he gets better. I know how you feel with Wal-mart and the treatment of there fish which is why I don't buy from there because if you buy they have motivation to continue to sell. You had a good idea of saying them from there though. Hope the cory gets better. I have three myself. :)

  2. if you rescue sick fish it just encourages them to get more fish and mistreat them
