hi,

i need a little help,i'm a student thinking of going into cosmetology, i want to know first hand-- what is the job like? how much can i earn? work hours?? thanks a lot.

Before asking about afterschool opportunities, you need to consider cosmetology school first. Keep in mind that it's not just coloring, cutting and styling hair like you do your own. You have to learn perming, fingerwaving, all the technical aspects of hair, you even have to learn about aids, chemicals and electricity. Depending on whether you start your own salon or choose to rent booth space, the "job" will vary. It changes from state to state, but I believe in most you are required to work under another stylist for a year before you can have your own clients. You usually get to make your own hours which is nice. How much you earn depends on where you live & what kind of salon you work at.
