Cosmic Moon to prove threatening for Falcon’s Reign in the Tim Easterby Racing Partnerships Ladies’ Handicap
The Class 5 Tim Easterby Racing Partnerships Ladies’ Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders) (Division I) will be the third time that the three-year-old, Falcon’s Reign will race after joining Michael Appleby’s studs from 18th May, 2012. Previously the chestnut gelding used to be trained by Jeremy Noseda.
The £2,184 event will be held at Pontefract over a mile, two furlongs and six yards on Monday, 2nd July. Falcon’s Reign will be against eleven contestants and shares his odds with Cosmic Moon, who also stands at 4 to 1.
The explosive level of confidence regarding Haafhd’s three-year-old chestnut gelding’s dominance is based on his most recent race at Lingfield. The French gelding started racing just this season and has won only once out of the six outings.
The curtain raiser for the Al Badeya’s foaled racing career was the Wolverhampton – The Black Country’s Only Racecourse Maiden Stakes on 20th January, 2012 at Wolverhampton over seven furlongs. He failed in the first attempt to clear the maiden as he ended third in the field of nine.
The unfortunate spell of losing races continued for the next four outings too. During this phase he switched from riding with Shane Kelly to becoming the mount for Russ Kennemore.
After five months of hard struggle, the three-year-old finally did his connections proud by winning the Visit Attheraces.Com/Ascot Handicap (Turf) on 12th June, 2012 at Lingfield over a mile and a furlong.
The first time companion ship with jockey, James Doyle, proved lucky for the French gelding who escaped defeat by a short head’s difference but at least did manage claiming the race regardless of the margin.
He will ride with Miss. C. Walton and has been allotted the second gate to race from.
A potential threat to his chances of success is, Cosmic Moon, Doyen’s four-year-old bay filly out of mare, Cosmic Case. The Richard Fahey trained won the Blue Riband Handicap on 9th June at Newcastle over a mile and two furlongs.
She defeated the runner up, The Lodge Road, by 1 ¼ lengths.
Even for Cosmic Moon this was her first victory post during the new season and she might just have it in mind to pair up wins by excelling today.
