  1. Well, it depends. What's your local currency? I ask because if you're coming from, say, the United States this is a very expensive time to visit Europe because of the poor exchange rate.

So not knowing your local currency we'll talk in Euros and then you can use a currency conversion program to see how much it will cost you in your home currency.

Per day minimum: 48 Euros (about $75USD)

This would mean a bed in a youth hostel (18 Euros), a basic toast and juice breakfast (3 Euros), lunch with a menu of the day (set) meal (9 Euros), snack (3 Euros), simple dinner (15 Euros). This includes no transportation (if you can walk everywhere and don't travel to other cities), no entry fees, and no tours.

Double (at least) this number if you want to stay in a hostel (called "hostal" in Spain/Spanish) with a private room, have a better lunch and dinner, take some tours, visit museums, etcetera.

If you want more specifics, just ask and get "answers"!

  2. I was in Spain last year, and, including airfare from Denver to Madrid, for three people, four weeks, we spent about $15000US.  We didn't go garbage can cheap, nor did we overspend.  So, 1250/week per person (one of our people was half for most things...he's pretty little, still).  so figure about $1500/week, with inflation and the dropping dollar.  A little more if you tend to go more expensive, a little less if you can really go dirt cheap, but we had to have booked in advance rooms, etc., and you pay extra for that.
