Cost for brake pads on 2005 Acura?

HI,

I have a 2005 Acura RSX Type S and i am the original car owner. Lately I have been noticing the occasional squeak when I apply my brakes. I've had the car for about 3 years so I figure it is time for new pads. I take it in and the quote I got was $725 for pads and reglazing my rotors. I thought that was a bit excessive...but I have no idea what is reasonable. So the question I pose is what is a reasonable price and what exactly does reglazing of my rotors do for the car? I live in MAssachusetts. Thanks!

  1. Go somewhere else.  They are ripping you off!  725 for pads is CRAZY!  Top of the line are 80 bucks and further more, glazing your pads is a mystery to us.  You either have those rotors turned or get new ones.  Just take my advice and get away from that garage you're dealing with and go somewhere else!

  2. and it is way too high when you can remove pads for like 25 bucks and buy new rotors cheaper i think and do it your self not that hard of job.. my wife does her brakes and most brakes only last a good year so you did good to get them to 3yrs.. anyway you best call a round to a few more place anywhere can do brakes and anyone can with just a bit of know how .. call a auto parts store and ask about new pads and rotors for your cars make and model you will what is really cost for parts and heres is how its done ... shoul dbe able to find some where less than half that price

  3. Top shelf AC-Delco or Bendix CQ ceramic brake pads cost less than $175.00 for the whole darn car!! De-glazing the rotors is nothing more than using a small right angle grinder with a zircon particle flap wheel to lightly grind out the directional marks running around all eight rotor surfaces.

The caliper slider-pins should be checked and re-greased with synthetic brake grease. I don't want to up-set you but we'd charge you no more than $300.00 if your car required no rotor replacement.
