I went from Toronto to Perth and return in December of 2004.  It cost 2495 at that time.  I used Air Canada to LA and then Malaysian Airlines to Perth.

One way you should be able to get for about$1200  check out  flight centre and aircanada fly direct to vancouver...Canada is beautiful..I married one and I bought him home!!
