Cost more to have oral surgeon take out wisdom teeth than dentist?

see im afraid to get hurt, my dentist says he'll only numb me while i heard oral sugeons put u to sleep.

which is the better deal, also which costs more

im having all 4 taken out

  1.   all you need to take out wisdom teeth is local anesthesia like your dentist suggested.  The only reason why oral surgeons sedate patients is to keep them calm and relieve the anxiety. But even oral surgeons only use local anesthetic if you don't request sedation.  If you're not an anxious patient you can get them removed by your dentist.  Keep in mind, oral surgeons charge more because they have 5 years more training and deal with more complex cases on a daily basis.


  2. Hahah, I got my wisdom teeth taken out by an oral surgeon

    He didn't put me to sleep... I was numb up to my eyeballs

  3. I had mine out at a teaching hospital and it cost less that $100.

  4. if its really tough, its better for an oral surgeon to remove it. Oral surgeon will charge you more , may be double or some times three times more than dental surgeons.
