The TTC website is confusing. How much does it cost for a monthly pass to ride the bus and subway. Do they come together? How does it work?

  1. The cost of taking the TTC Bus and Subway are the same (and I mean only for TTC, if you take the GO train, you have to pay separately for that).

To take the subway or bus, you must pay a total fare of $2.75 either by token or cash (preferably exact change, especially on a bus. Otherwise, you can ask the guy in the toll booth to break up your change before you pay your fare in the little box).

Once you're in, you can go anywhere you want, just for that price of $2.75 (but make sure you have a transfer if you plan to transfer to a bus from a subway and vice versa)

The monthly pass (i.e Metropass) works for BOTH the bus and subway (TTC only). For one metropass that works for a month, it costs $109.00 (Adult). If you plan to use the metropass for an ENTIRE year, EACH metropass costs $100 (for a total of 1200) and you will receive it through mail.

Like token and cash, you can take either the bus or subway. The only difference is that you don't have to carry or ask for a transfer to change your method of transportation.
