Im doing my Duke of Edinburgh Silver award and i need a Sport to do for 6 months. I normally stick to doing my dancing as a sport because i've been doing it for several years but i want to do something different like ice skating.

My dad bought me my own ice skates for xmas and i really want some lessons.

How much do you reckon it will cost for 6 months training of ice skating?

Thanks x

  1. you will have to pay for like a hole year of ice time or something like that but you will have to pay about 500$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ya i am in hockey so i know about it so ya

  2. i take lessons and it's 60 dollars for 6 weeks

  3. 4 me...private lessons r $1 per minute...and that's REALLY cheap

  4. if you are taking private lessons that would cost you $30 every day. ($1/min.) But I think you should start taking group lessons 1st.

  5. don't know where in the uk you are butask your local rink.

silverblades at hemel hempstead charge £30 for 6 weeks of group lessons of half hour or £15 for private half hour lesson.

  6. at my place (where i skate)

to have a private coach... me no know

    but...

    1 day for 7 weeks  cost $85

  7. if you do group lessons probably around 500$

  8. Well for me, there is a new session every 8 weeks.

Each lesson is once a week for 30 minutes, and

for the 8 weeks, it costs $112. That cost includes

the lessons, free 3 hours of skating after the lesson,

4 free passes for me, and 2 guest passes for anybody

I want to bring along. I can use that all within the 8 weeks,

and when I sign up for the next 8 week session, I get brand

new passes and everything. It also includes free skate rental but I have my own, and it's good that you have your own too! :)

It's not really expensive if you're only doing it for 6 months and not getting competitive.

I think for 3 months, it could cost anywhere from $300 to $400, I would go to your local skating rinks website to find out the price, or call them.

And just wondering but what is a Duke of Edinburgh Silver award?

Good luck with the skating :)

  9. i play hockey and its expensive

  10. i buy my group lessons in blocks of 12 half hour lessons and it costs me bout £65. when i have a half hour private lesson it costs £15 and every half hour patch is £1.10 so it depends how much u wanna go

  11. The Price for skating totally depends on two things:

Where you skate and how much you skate.

Obviously it would cost more for someone taking private lessons every day than for someone taking group lessons once a week.

The only way to find out the pricing is to call the rink and ask them what skating programs they offer and how much they cost. I would recommend one or two group lessons a week to start, and who knows, maybe you'll like it and stick with it.

At my rink for 6 weeks of hour and a half lessons once a week it was about 100 dollars.

I Hope you like skating and decide to stick with it.
