  1. we have 2-3 large grocery stores wich you can shop online as well and you can get the prices. everyone has different grocery prices because everyone buys diff things. i know a family of four can live off $150 of food a week but i live alone and i spend $100 per week on food because i eat out alot.  so it depends.

the major grocery stores we have here are woolworths or coles. woolworths online shopping website is http://www.homeshop.com.au/ and coles website is http://www.coles.com.au/ . in the coles website just enter the UNSW postcode before you browse for items. you can get a gist of prices from them on the things you want to buy.

they both have basically the same prices and a tip is every week they have things that are on special. its different things every week. one week it might be tissue toilet rolls that are 50% off and the nxt week it might be laundry detergent. my tip is when its hugely on sale for 1 week buy in bulk 2 save a few $$$ if your tight on money.

as for entertainment. its $15.50 to go to the cinemas and its discount $9 only on tuesdays

for going to resturants it depends on the type of resturants. a regular dish price at a resturant is about 20-$25 a dish at a restuarant. chinese and asian restuarants are cheaper. maybe about $15-$18 a dish and they serve big serves so you can share that.

travel costs if you travel by train are cheap and its even cheaper if you get a pass. i dont know if you qualify as having a student/consession card asyou are an overseas student but notmally if you are a full time student u go to UNSW and you apply for a consession card and all your public transport is half price. i dont think overseas students qualify however you can find the prices of train travel prices if you know where you are going to and where from in this site.

a return ticket to the city is normally around $3. that means 1 way to the city cbd and 1 way back home.

as for going out to bars and clubbing. some clubs charge a cover fee. some clubs open at 9pm on saturdays but if you come before 10pm u get in free. the clubs with entree fees normally charge you $10-20. alcoholic drinks in clubs varie alot. a cocktail is normally about $10-$15 and som places have them cheaper and some more dearer depending on the place you go to. but just a rough idea is about $10-$15 for a cocktail and i dont drink beer but i think its normally about $5-$7 for a beer. again depends on the place.

i cant think of anything else for entertainment. you can rent new release dvds from blockbuster for $5 a night and if you buy dvds its roughly about $20-30 each.

thats all i can think of atm.
