  1. I can't help you with the in-ground, but I installed an above-ground pool last summer.

24' diameter with a 100,000 BTU heater.  The cost of the pool, heater and installation (including running gas & electric lines) ran about $8,000.00.

Once we got up and running, I'd say we spent less than one hour per week for mainentance.  The chemical treatments averaged about $5-$10 per week.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Now a days it could cost you at least 20,000 dollars at least, is actually cheaper to buy a home that already has a pool, that's what we wanted to do but our realtors told us is cheaper buy the home alreayd with the pool in it ;)

  3. Had one built in Spain, only 12.5 metres long x 5 metres wide and a it was on a slope it had to be built up above ground, it cost just over £30,000 (it was tiled though and had fancy balustrading, big poolside area etc)

One in the UK that was dug into the ground approx. same size and lined cost just over £12,000 but that was nearly 20 years ago.

Maintenance is suprisingly low if you keep it clean yourself, depending where you live, if you can use it all year round you won't have any problems, with our pool in the UK, its covered during the winter, we just have to give it a good clean and hoover when its uncovered and let the chemicals do their work before we can get in.  You have to get the filter cleaned occasionally (not expensive) but not often if you remember to backwash it.

The most expensive thing is filling it up but no need to empty it if you look after it properly.

Ours is cheap to heat also as the pipes run through our homes hot water pipes so it warms up as it filters through.

Its a great idea and great fun especially having people round for a BBQ, it only adds value to your home if done professionally so you won't lose out

  4. Sorry, but I can't tell you about prices, but I can tell you about maintenance.  If you want a ling lasting pool, DON'T get one with cement.  The cement will fall off quickly.  I know this was of little help...
