  1. Your best bet would be to go to the artist and ask them personally, as all artists have different ways of pricing, some charge by the hour, others by the detail or time it will take.  They are all different.  If you haven't narrowed it down to one artist, you (or she) should shop around.  My first tattoo was about two inches long and about 1 1/2 wide, and it cost me a hundred dollars.  I got ripped off tho.  I would also advise that you have someone that knows a lot about tattoos accompany you (or your cuz) because some artists would take advantage of the lack of knowledge (like what happened with me) and then you'll spend a crapload of money on a tat that should have been half the price.  Also, the location of the tat should have NOTHING to do with the price.  The only person the location should bother is the one wanting it.

  2. the cost of the tattoo really depends on who's doing it, how big, and how detailed the tattoo is. colored tattoos can sometimes be more than black ones. but the area doesnt really affect price, i have a star on my wrist that cost 35 dollars, and my friend got one on her hip that was slightly larger for 40. tell your family member to talk about prices with a tattoo artist before she decides on anything. good luck!

  3. Well that depends on a lot of things....the artist, is it colored, how much detail...but I would say between $40-$60.
