Cost of an ECU for 1994 Subaru?

I am looking at buying a 1994 Subaru SVX. According to the seller, someone broke into the car and stole the stereo, battery and ECU. I can take care of the stereo and battery. How much will a new or used ECU cost? Is this something an average Joe can install?
