Cost of bankruptcy ch 7 ? easy first time online cost? iowa lawyers cost?

ok can i file bankruptcy ch 7 if i am working with like a getting out of dept place? what do i need to have to file bankruptcy and how hard is it to do online plus the cost? or should i just get a lawyer to do it for me and what will that cost in iowa? i only need to file for like no more then 4k.

I got into of financial trouble a few years ago. I should have contacted a lawyer before I filed for bankruptcy. Now it will take me 10 years to establish a good credit score again. Best advice, Hire a good qualified attorney in your area, you can google iowa,msbarassociation and check them out if they have a website, the websites usually tell you if they are active or have had complaints filed against them. A bankruptcy filed by yourself is not a good idea with the new laws, you have to pass a means test, do credit counseling and if you don't do it all, you can most likely get dismissed. A good bk attorney will want to see your last 6 months pay stubs, a list of your debts, last 4 years of taxes and assets. They will base all this information on what you qualify for. You can also check out www.bcsalliance.com....great site for debt, credit and bankruptcy questions. A chapter 7 usually runs between 800 to 1500.00 depending on the attorney, figure at least 1200.00 to get it all processed. A chapter 13 is more money. Bankruptcy should be your absolute last resort. The amount of your debt, being 4K...is very low, and I'm not sure if you'd qualify with that small amount of debt, but most attorney's will see you on a first free consultation. Good Luck!
