Going to Malia on Friday, self catering, 1 week...

I heard food and drinks are quite cheap so would just like a rough guide to how much will i need a day for just food and clubbing.

Also i would possibly like to do some activities such as watersports or quad biking so would just like a rough price for that as well.

My basic budget is 300 euros

  1. Hi There

I went to Malia in 2006, i found the food was quite cheap. You can get a cooked breakie for about 3 euros. Depends if you like to eat out everynight as i found this got rather expensive. We decided to buy some bread and pasta from the super market and cooked on our poxy hobs in our room lol. There a Mcdonalds and Subway so thats always an option lol. The drinks differ from Bar to Bat but most bars are all competing against each other to get people in so you tell the PR's what YOU want to pay, and sure enough they will do you a deal. If you head down the main strip, keeping to the right, theres a small bar just past a quad hire place (slightly set back from the strip) we managed to get double vodka's for 1 euro each which is about 80p. We went there every night and the staff were great there.

You will have a great time, we went to the waterpark and that was 20 euro which included coach transfer which was ideal, again look around for the cheapest place that does it.

Quads can be quite pricey and you have to be very careful, if you scratch those babies they will be demanding money for repair etc, and sometimes require your passport as deposit. Also police often pull over riders without helmets so be careful.

Have fun anyway, £300 should be plenty if you dont blow it in the clothes shoes etc like i was tempted to do.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to message me :)

  2. Drinks are all generally 2 for 1 ........  About €5-6 euro for 2 pints or 2 vodka/cokes etc which isn't to bad although it is local stuff.  Food is about the same as any other British filled resort now to be honest and not much cheaper then back home in a lot of restuarants although you can get snacks from certain places which are pretty reasonable, just a case of looking around.
