What is an average cost of professionally installing engineered hardwood, the self locking type for a 700sq ft area? We will remove the carpets ourselves and provide all materials so I just need the ballpark cost of installation.

Thanks

  1. The labor cost per sq ft will vary depending on geographic region and the number of rooms making up the 700 sq ft.  So getting bids from at least 3 local professional flooring installers is much more useful than anything provided anonymously on the internet.  That much said, an average installation might cost you about $2.50 per sq ft, but be prepared to pay anywhere between $2 and $3.50.

By the way, a self locking floor requires a very flat subfloor.  You will not be able to tell if it's flat enough until the carpet and pad have been removed. Then you can check it out using a long straight edge.  Anyway, be prepared to pay extra for subfloor prep or to do it yourself.
