  1. I think the first two questions have been answered quite well.

but the third is not so straight forward - reason being is of course things are relative so it depends where yuou are fromo and what you are used to etc. I have heard throughout my life that comparatively NZ educational system is very good but I am a Nzer. I do live overseas though and i am aware nz teachers are always in demand. My son went ot Rangtitoto college and the facilities etc are amazing and in fact globally dollar for dollar i cannot see how i could be bested. But in new zealand they have zoning so if you do not live in a zone your child cannot go to that school so you either have to go private or pay more rent by living in a more "desirable" zone to then take advantage of the local schooling. If you compare say to UK the is no comparison if you want to include sports. Rangitioto college for example for ages 13-18 has all facilities rugby basketball football hockey fencing ahtletics etc. But this school is the biggest in NZ if not australasia i think it has approx 3,000 pupils.

Usually the most important thing in teaching is not only the quality of the teachers or courses given but the amount of pupils per teacher. I think this varies on location. Funding for example I know of a rural primary school - MAtakana primary which is fabulous but that is because they do not rely solely on government funding they do alot of fundraisign and throug doing so pay for an additioinal teacher and this in turn reduces numbers per teachers.

    Good luck!

NZ is a wonderful place! but it is expensive comparative to what the salaries/wages are!

  2. I think the above have answered well...Would just like to add my imput into c.

I was brought up in South Auckland and went to a very low socioeconomic public school and I am now graduating with a degree in marketing and tourism.

You dont need to spend thousands on private schools - because no one even looks at what high school (college) you went to once youve finished any tertiary qualification. Some private schools are more expensive than university which is just ridiculous.

  3. a. about $250~300 for an apartment in the city.

    b. about $50 per person.

    c. i think it's pretty good. Most of the migrants who came here, just for the sole purpose of their children education. Not so stressful, more creative. Re cost of education, for foreigner, i think it's quite expensive, not very sure , between $10k to $20k(per annum).

  4. A two bedroom flat goes for around $280.00/week!  A sit down meal at a decent restaurant with a glass of wine, will set you back $100.00 for two.  The education system here is not very good, go private if you can.  The issue with the education system is that it is favorable to girls and disadvantages boys.  Similar to the rest of society here by the way.  If you are female, NZ is a wonderful place.
