how much does it cost nowadays to attain a private pilots license? Generally speaking (a roundabout number is fine).... i live about a mile away from Dupage Airport in the chicagoland region so it is fairly convenient to get it from one of the schools there...... i know each school is going to be different and cost a different amount, but id still like to hear from people who have gotten one in the last ten years or so........

  1. The prices they give are about correct, but Mr Smarty-Pants, Thom, gave you incorrect information.

If you go to a school, its part 141.  Part 135 is an operation.

And you go right on calling it a licence, everyone else does, including those in the industry.

  2. $6000-$7000

    Happy landings!

  3. You might check into the various flying clubs based at DuPage airport.

Aurora airport is close by, they too have flight instruction

    Good Luck !

  4. There is no cost for a private pilots license. There is no such thing. It's a certificate.  It's only a 'license' to learn.  That said,

From start to Single Engine Private, is about $6,000 to 7,000 depending on rental prices.  Allow another $500 for exams, and fees.

You can do it either part 61 - one on one with an instructor, or 135 - in a school (more structure).

I'd recommend having the money saved up, schedule two to three flights per week.

Good luck.  It's a lot of fun.

  5. i think it cost me around 6500.. I had to do alot of recurrent training though since i was only flying on the weekends and sometimes would go a few months between lessons.. thats about 65 hours worth of flight time.. plus i flew a really cheap rental plane

  6. Well anywhere from 6-8 thousand and depends on 100LL price too. Now with the new G1000's and Tedaline Avyimax and SR22 I've seen prices skyrocket to over 11 grand.

  7. im getting my private pilot certificate (their called certificates, not licenses, i had to get used to that, arg, lol) and im expecting to be shelling out about $5200.00 (+/- $300.00) at a flight school in NYC, idk how much it would be around your area. ask around and shop around for the best prices at the different schools, then actually visit the schools and ask for an introductory flight (make sure that you take your logbook with you! you can log introductory flights as flight hours and have your instructor sign off on them! if you don't have a logbook, i attached a website at the bottom). Also, do alot of studying at home to minimize the amount of time that you need for ground instruction.

You need 40 hours for a private pilots certificate under a non-faa-approved flight school, and only 35 in an faa-approved flight school. I would recommend a non-faa-approved flight school as they tend to be more lenient and give the intructors more leeway in how to structure the learning program. Plus, your gonna end up taking about 50 to 60 flight hours by the time you take your test, i recommend you take 50 to 60, even though necessary would be 35/40 depending on the school you register with. remember, always carry your logbook!!! and good luck!

  8. Up to £8000. I know because I am about to start lessons as well.

  9. $5,000 -- $8,000 US

  10. Certified Flight instructor - instrument and Advanced Ground Instructor......

FAA regs require a minimum of 40 hrs

    20 hrs of dual (w/instructor)

    10 hrs solo min

    5 hrs x-country solo

    night x-country

    night landing copetency

    knowledge test - 90 dollars

practical test - aka faa ride -300 dollars + plane

    You will require ground training

instructors are 50 dollars an hour and plane typically in this area are from 100-150$per hour

total dual per hr = 200

    national average is 60-80 hrs

about 6-8-10 grand realistically one you have book and suppplies and you knowledge level

  11. Probably the same price as a Boeing 747.

  12. not sure what planes rent for or what instructors charge in that area of the US, ,

    you should expect $5-7k

    edit:

part 135????what does part 135 have to with certification of airmen?? me thinks you are mistaken!!!!
