Cost of spaying a dog?

Does anyone know the approximate cost of spaying a female dog? I just purchased a 2 yr old Boston Terrier. She's had 2 litters, before I bought her, but I want to get her fixed now. If you don't know the breed, they are small. She is about 17 lbs.

  1. I don't know the exact cost. But, I can tell you that they go by weight, and that it'll cost more if the dog has already had a litter.

  2. Depends on the vets, call around. Also it goes by weight and age. Most vets will require you to get your dog's vaccinations too, so be prepared for a little bit more cost. Good Luck

  3. Veterinary costs vary from region to region because of differences in overhead (ex, a rural vet will be paying less for the building and employee wages than one who works in the middle of a large city so they will not have to charge as much to stay in business....areas with a higher cost of living will have higher veterinary costs).  Call around to your local vets to find out what the cost will be and what those costs include (eg, does that quote include pain medication? pre-operative bloodwork? IV catheter and EKG?).  Price will be based on weight (because smaller dogs require less drugs to get the job done).  If she is in heat, pregnant, or has an infected uterus the cost will also be higher because these conditions increase the difficulty of the surgery and the risks associated with the surgery (however, simply having had a few litters of puppies should not increase the cost of the spay).

  4. Ive noticed that cost isn't always the same across the country and some places have organizations that help with costs. Best bet is to call around to the vet offices and ask what the price are. Around where i live it cost about 65 dollars

  5. a bite, scratch, number of bruises , bites and a trip to hospital.

  6. check the human society they are cheaper where we live its about 75 dollars at the vet its going to be over 100 or more

  7. All vets are different. The cost usually depends on weight. You'll have to call vets in your area to get quotes.
