Is the overall price of a cruise based on number of people or number of rooms? Of course there are other factors, but out of those two, how exactly do they charge? Thanks.

  1. Cruise lines set their prices simply by supply and demand. That's why Caribbean cruises in July (when school is out) are more expensive than September (when kids are in school and it's peak hurricane season). There is a lot more demand during July than September.

My first cruise was 9/16/01, the weekend after the 9/11 attacks. So many people canceled for the cruise I was on, the cruise line offered to let the people that were on-board stay on-board for another week for $200 per person! Simple supply and demand. The ship was going to sail anyway, so if they could fill some empty cabins for $400, why not?

  2. go see a travel agent they can give you the best answer ..there is many factors and you need specific info to give you a good answer

  3. I think price is related more to the number of people and other factors of course. I think the goal on cruises is to book a percentage of the rooms to ensure a decent profit. If less than half of the rooms are booked within a certain time frame you would have to drop prices in order to meet your quota. The more people you have the more money you make because of the double occupancy charges, plus each additional person is more. No matter how many rooms you have if you don't have people you don't make a profit. If the itinerary happens to be one they know is popular they can start off charging a lot because they know they will get it. If the demand continues to increase so will the prices, if the demand drops so will the prices.

  4. The prices quoted for cruises are per person. But this is only for the first two people in each cabin. If you can reserve a cabin that has 2 overhead bunks that come out of the wall or ceiling, the 3rd and 4th in the cabin are a much cheaper price. This gets really crowded however and is best to use when you have smaller children.

  5. The price of a cruise is based on per person, double occupancy, so what they care about is getting every cabin booked. If you are a single person, you will have to pay double of what 2 people pay individually. If you have more then 2 people in the cabin, each extra person is cheaper. They don't put more then 4 or 5 people in a cabin, too crowded. If you have a large family, they have cabins that open up between each other.

  6. This is a hard question to answer. The price for a cruise is very fluid and depends on how many cabins there are left. The fewer cabins left the higher is the price for thoose left. Its a demand thing. But when the cl:s set theyre prices they do it after a two person occupancy of every cabin. Thats why you almost anywhere will have to pay a 100% charge for a single cabin. And that is why the third party price could be so low. Johan

  7. Don't go on a cruise.  Why should someone else decide where you go, how long you can stay and tell you to come home?
