It's a bit like "how long is a piece of string" it really depends on what you want, materials used, size.....etc. Labour charges in France are as a rough guide around 35-40€ per hour for a skilled artisan and new build houses are subject to VAT. That aside it can be and more often is cheaper to build new that to renovate as the price of land is still quite cheap. Your best bet is to look at some plots of land and get quotes from at least 3 building companies.
