Cost to build a single car garage

Im looking at serveral house one without a basement and one with. Im leaning toward the one with the basement but it has no garage. What type of cost is there in building a single car garage, detached?

A general location would help.  I'm not sure why there would be plumbing in garage.

I would budget about $8-10K in the Midwest.

Figure a couple hundred dollars per square foot for a slab, framing, electrical, lighting, external siding, roof, door and operating mechanism, plus extra for windows and plumbing.

I live in the Midwest and I just paid abou $8 grand for a 2 car. Actually 10 because I had the cement people pour a new 30 ft. sidewalk to the house.
