  1. You need to find how much the part cost.  An auto parts store can do this for you.  A brake job and plugs will be around 5 hr labor so will will have to know the labor rate or the shop you are taking it to..

  2. Don't know what the cost would be but the least expensive if you are a reasonable mechanic is to do them yourself, or in the case of a lady, a trustworthy friend.

  3. You did not say what kind of car you have.  There are stores that advertise $59 specials for brake pad installation.  Of course, when they check it there are substantial ad on costs- such as you may need rotors, etc.

  4. Like $200....maybe $900....maybe....

  5. depends on the car

    plugs £3 each,pads£14/shoes£16/discs £33 a pair...but thats for my car.

EDIT....DANNY ABOVE..5 HOURS LABOUR..ARE YOU SURE?....someones been ripped off in the past.

  6. One place you can use to do price checking on car repairs is on Driverside.com - you can drill down to specific cars cause I think the price will change based on the car. They are still in beta but they have a ton of data on what car parts and repairs should cost. I used them for my last repair.

  7. Well you didnt list what year, make, and model of vehicle you have. If you want a general, almost ball park figure.....

If you go to a shop and just tell them replace all 4 brakes, your looking at about $300, if you go to the dealership, your looking at about $450.

A cheaper way to do it is to visit an autoparts store (Napa, Autozone, Kragen, etc) and give them your year/make/model of car and they should be able to sell you pads for all 4 wheels. Usually they are about $40 each, so you'll spend about $160. Then just go to a shop and pay them to install it (usually an hour of labor - around $70) That's how i do it, in fact i get high end brakes, installed with even rotors resurfaced for $300 at my local mechanic, i just buy the parts, he does the labor!

Spark plugs are about $5 each for the regular ones, closer to $10each for the premium ones. It just depends on the number of cylinders you have (4, 6, 8 ,etc) thats the number of spark plugs you need. If you can install it yourself, it will be just the cost of the plugs at a local parts store. If you can't, take it a shop and they can probably do a regular plug change for about $10 each.
