Cost to transport a houseboat?

About how much does it cost to transport a houseboat a long distance? It's a hypothetical houseboat so I don't want to waste a company's time asking for a fake quote. I'm only looking for an order of magnitude estimate here (yes, I'm an astrophysicist).

Is it a lot cheaper to transport one to another lake in the same region (say, within 300 miles) than across the country, or does the mileage not make much of a difference? Is it actually cheaper to buy one at the destination than to transport one that is already owned? I'm moving in about a year.
